Today, On January 2, 2024, a massive fire broke out in two planes after a Japan Airlines plane collided with another plane on the runway of Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan's capital. 


There were 379 passengers on board the plane when this accident occurred. Initial information indicates that all the people on board the plane have been taken out safely. However, five people are reported missing.


A spokesperson for Japan's Haneda Airport said that all operations at the airport have been stopped after this major accident. After the collision, the fire brigade had to work very hard to extinguish the fire in both planes. 


The Tokyo Fire Brigade Department said there was a collision between a Japan Coast Guard aircraft and a Japan Airlines aircraft. The accident happened because of this.

According to the Japanese News Agency, the pilot of the Japan Coast Guard aircraft fled from the scene as soon as the collision occurred. Five other people are reported missing. 


Local television in Japan also showed a Japan Airlines plane engulfed in flames on the runway at Tokyo's Haneda Airport. Pictures broadcast on NHK showed the plane catching fire and then speeding down the runway. In this footage, you can see flames coming out of the windows.


After burning, the front part of the plane broke and fell to the ground. As soon as the accident happened, rescue workers at the airport ran towards the plane. 


They carried anti-fire spray and quickly started extinguishing the fire. But more than 70 fire engines had to be deployed to extinguish the flames of both the planes engulfed in flames.

Local TV video showed huge flames shooting out of a Japan Airlines plane as it took off from the runway. After which the areas around the wing also caught fire. 


NHK TV reported that the plane was JAL Flight Five Sixteen. It had taken off from Shin Chitose Airport in Japan for Haneda and was landing there.
