What is hit-and-run law for truck

The Madhya Pradesh High Court made a big decision. Asked the government to end this strike and create a consensus among the drivers. First of all, let me quickly tell you the big news of some states. After that, we will know some information about this law in detail.

See the pictures of Himachal Pradesh. There was an outcry for petrol and diesel because 80% of the pumps were empty. The wheels of HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) - that is, the roadways and private buses of Himachal Pradesh - have stopped. There is a traffic jam for filling oil.

Oil companies have also sent 140 tankers. Some similar situations are going on in Haryana also. Haryana Chief Minister called a meeting amid the truck drivers' strike. 30% of petrol pumps in Punjab are dry.

Even the supply of gas and ration has stopped in Himachal. Conditions on the sale of petrol and diesel also came into effect in Chandigarh. The second day of the strike of bus and truck drivers in Bihar was seen like this. There were traffic jams in many districts.

Even autos were stopped in Patna. Petrol pumps started drying up. In Chhattisgarh, petrol diesel is being supplied under police protection. The bus carrying passengers was also pelted with stones.

The Chief Minister has also issued instructions to set up a control room. There is a huge shortage of essential commodities like fruits, vegetables, grains, and ration. The situation in Rajasthan is also similar; the wheels of trucks and buses are jammed.

Roadway buses are closed. The business in the Mandis (Market) is also being affected. The supply of goods ranging from milk to groceries has come to a standstill due to the drivers' strike in Madhya Pradesh.

School buses have also been stopped. Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh High Court held the hearing. On the issue of the truck drivers' strike, the government asked to end the strike.

The Transport Minister said that we are talking in Indore. Vandalism was also seen on buses. There is a lot of public anger. The situation is going on in different states across the country.

Now understand why there is so much opposition to the law of hit and run. So why is there a traffic jam due to this law? There is an outcry at petrol pumps also.

There is only one reason behind all this. You must be aware that recently the Central Government has passed three new laws in the Parliament. Home Minister Amit Shah also said that the hit-and-run mentioned in Section 104 of the Indian Judicial Code has replaced the IPC.

Drivers are opposing this because this section is based on negligence. Makes a provision for punitive action for causing death.

Why so much ruckus over Hit-and-Run Rule?

The IPC has a provision for up to two years of jail and a fine for hit-and-run deaths. The Indian Justice Code, however, increased this punishment to up to 10 years in jail and a fine.

Why are drivers afraid of the Hit-and-Run Rule?

The thing is something like this. Suppose the car stops and an accident happens. Then, if the driver goes to help the injured, he has to face the anger of the crowd.

He will tell you that many times the crowd beats up the driver. He beats him so much that sometimes he even kills him.

All India Motor Transport Congress also claimed that the government did not even take suggestions from the responsible persons before amending these laws. look at some statistics of hit-and-run cases.

Let me tell you the figures for the last two years. A total of more than 50,000 cases were reported in 2021 and 2020, of which only half resulted in deaths. There are cases of hit and run accidents. Fifty percent of the time the victim dies.

Earlier, these laws did not specifically punish hit and run cases. However, when the question of hit and run cases arises, sections 279, 304, and 338 also come to the fore. Section 279 provides for the definition and punishment of reckless driving. Overall, there was some relaxation in the laws earlier.

Right now new laws have been implemented by the government. They are implemented under very strict restrictions. This is why, if a hit and run truck driver causes an accident, they can be imprisoned for up to 10 years and fined up to ₹ 7 lakh. Now this matter is becoming very serious under this law.

On this issue, let us see whether the Central Government gives any relaxation in these rules or not. What change will happen? We will let you know about any updates through this site, Quickscope Times, stay connected with us.
